  WAKE UP, "FREE IS NOT WHAT I MEAN"

How many more times, I mean what don't you get?
I receive a e-mail from a Brand New Club Owner in "The Hamptons" that
Tony enclave of the Rich, Famous, Fakes and Lame Club Promoters, just
outside New York City. So, this "Brand New
Club Owner" says "How can I pack my Club, take a look at my web site and
tell me what you think." So naturally I surf
over to his Site and low and behold, there is his Grand Opening Weekend, on
Memorial Day Weekend. OK, smart move I say
to myself, he is opening with a "THREE NIGHT FLOW OF CASH",
he is on the path. Wrong, wrong, and
more Wrong.
First, he is offering a "Liquor Brand Party" every night,
but......................with free samples of the brand, free point of sale
merchandise, free pizza, the beer game of "PONG" which is over with and
banned by "BUD BEER", because they realized it was
nothing more than a DRUNK FEST, so naturally the second rate Miller Beer
Reps offer what nobody else wants.
So, for his Grand Opening Weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the
Kick Off To Summer Weekend (Memorial Day) this "Brand New Club Owner"
offers:
- Free samples of a well known brand
- Free point of sale items
- Free Pizza
- PONG
- A DJ
- Karaoke
- No Cover Charge
after reviewing his Grand Opening Strategy he sends me another e-mail
saying 'What would you have done?"
How could I resist?
I mean he asked didn't he?
I proceed to explain to him everything he did wrong, why it was wrong and
why he will not make in "The Hamptons."
I don't hear from him until the Tuesday after his 3 day Grand Opening
Blitz.
He says to me "I am on a tight budget right now and I just wanted to touch
base with you."
The "REASON" he was on his "TIGHT BUDGET" is, he lost his tuchus over his
Grand Opening Weekend, because he gave everything away, and everybody took
whatever he offered for
free........................................................................
How could he take in any kind of cash flow, he gave almost everything
away? How could he generate any profit, his
overhead was burying him, before he even unlocked
the door on Friday Night? Nobody is going to
frequent his new Club, he did not provide, deliver or give one viable taste
of "THE FUN" or "THE WOW" to bring them back.
His entire focus was on "FREE," "FREE" and more "FREE."
This is way beyond what I call "Panic Promoting" it's "Begging for
Bodies." How did any of these nonstop free
for alls attract Hot Women or Spenders, who dominate, "The Hamptons" this
time of year. This is their Season.
THEY DIDN'T.

So with this "Nightwatch Man at Pearl Harbor" operating this new "Hamptons"
club, I move on to the next "Richie's believe It Or Not, It Doesn't Matter
They Are The Truth."
I am contacted by a Chain of Nightclubs Executive, who has already gone
through Nine, count'em Nine General
Managers at one of their clubs, in less than a Year.
What's the problem, you ask? How
about lack of a solid printed on paper, in writing, hands on "GAME PLAN"?
What about a step by step "PROMOTIONS PATH" that does not include
$1.50 longnecks or for that matter any cheap beers
or drink specials, but strictly is directed at
"PROMOTIONS, CONCEPTS, THEMES, PARTIES, CONTESTS, GATHERINGS,
HAPPENINGS, and UNIQUE ENTERTAINMENT?
Did you ever hear of a "STRATEGY" to implement?
Nine Managers is a horrible reflection on Corporate.
Nine Managers is a terrible indication of a lack of Vision.
So what do "THE SUITS" do?
They take the General Manager from one of their best Clubs and put him in
this
Pit of a club and expect him to turn it around, with again no
GAME PLAN PROMOTIONS PATH
or STRATEGY in Writing.
You can't keep help, because you hire the wrong people.
You can't keep help, because you have no consistency in your operation.
You can't keep help, because your more focused on the numbers than the
People.

No Time for a club without promotions.
No Time for a Club still wasting $$$$ on radio and flyers.
No Time left for clubs that allow minors in just to collect a cover charge
from them.
No Time left for the dead Nights and low morale staff.
It's the Middle of Summer and your still suffering, there's no time left for
you.............................No Time, No Time, No Time, No Time, You got,
got, got, no time.
