JANUARY 2017 - HAPPY NEW PROMOLUTIONS
For the 32nd Straight Year, here are my "NEW YEAR PROMOLUTIONS", you can make "New Year Resolutions" to stop smoking, lose weight, BUT, THESE are all about "CCCCCHANGES" as the late Great David Bowie sang so well.
1. I will NOT copy what my competition is doing, but rather raise the level of "BAR BRANDING", to position my bar, rising above all others in my area.
2. I will NOT waste my $ on radio, on newsprint, on magazines, on coupons, on flyers, on institutional advertising of any kind.
3. I will not tolerate my front glass doors being dirty and smudged, when my Hostesses are standing around and could be cleaning them.
4. I will offer the following new Beers, Wines & Liquors, because my bar selection has not been updated in quite awhile.

THESE WILL ENTICE AND EXCITE YOUR BAR PATRONS TO ORDER A FRESH NEW TASTE.
FEATURE THESE NEW LABELS AND BRANDS.
5. For the Months of January-March, every Saturday Night, you will hold a "Mannequin Challenge", and award a very inexpensive bottle of Champagne to the "Winning Couple" on the "Dance Floor".
6. You will remodel your bathrooms to look pristine, and not disgusting or unappealing.
7. You will start serving "Craft Cocktails", as well as your own State's "Craft Beers".
8. You will take down all "Neon Beer Signs", and return them to their respective beer vendors. They are outdated and OVAH!!
9. You will extend your Happiest Hours from now on to 4pm -9pm.
Stop emptying your bar out @ 6pm or 7pm and then be totally empty @ your bar.
10. You will stop running constant drink and food specials to lure in customers.
11. You will create a "Loyalty Program", that is strictly focused on and based on "RETURN VISITS". Not how much is spent.
12. You will pay far more attention to your Social Media Strategies, than posting pictures of friends on Face book, but rather enhance, expand, excite your Social Media with Face book, Your own WEB SITE, which is a MUST, using INSTAGRAM, Twitter, Youtube and even SNAPCHAT to maximize your presence online.
If you want to retain an outside expert to post and produce your Social Media, then "Barter" out food and beverage against their fee.
13. You will "BARTER" your Food/Beverage against all Services you use, by using independent Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, A/C Technicians. Every Service Oriented Individual that owns their own Company, are more than glad, to "BARTER" out dining, drinking @ your Establishment, vs Cash.
Oh Yes They Do.
14. You will no longer allow your DJs to curse over the mic, to drink while working, to dress like a slob. Yes, this is an Overnight Set Of Changes, that is going to be met by resistance. So what? Nobody comes into your establishment for who is spinning the "BEATS", they come in to here what the "BEATS" are? If the Music is not appealing they walk out.
If the Music is "DANCE, DANCE, DANCE", they stay.
15.You will Never ever serve "ICEBERG LETTUCE", it has Zero Nutritional Value, and is a bland and basic lettuce, when you should be serving only Romaine.
16. What's on the line for you in 2017? Everything. It's your Reputation, your Image, your Perception, from online Reviews, to Social Media Posts, what are you doing to counter any negativity? This Year you must have "Rapid Response". From Response Postings, to Personal Phone Calls, to using your own Social Media to address issues, concerns, complaints that are posted.
You will never ever, ignore a Customer Complaint ever again.
17. You must attempt to reduce your overhead. From contacting your Landlord, to lowering your water,electric,garbage,sewer, alarm, insurance rates, all of these Monthly Expenses need to be reviewed and reduced where possible. Don't just pay it, because you owe it. Often you can lower these costs, by speaking up.
18. You need to accept "Stress", "Pressure" and "Excitement" as necessary parts of this business. Learn how to handle them & master them this year.
19. You must find "New Ways" to meet the needs of demanding ever changing Consumer Lifestyles. Don't just go through the motions of opening, operating and closing this year. Get out of your own World, and discover what is going on in the "REAL WORLD". Be able to adapt, apply, and attract fresh faces to your place.
20. You need to know the "Buzz Words" for 2017 which are defined as "Healthy Foods", "Craft Cocktails", "Farm To Table", "Light Dishes", after you understand their meaning, implement their New Ways ASAP.
21. You must be a "Creative Mind". You achieve this by following the Formula, Creative Minds =Creative Vibes=CREATIVE LIVES, Be Creative. Think "outside the Box". "Do what you've never ever done before". Watch your Bar,Club,Lounge,Sports Bar, Restaurant with a Bar, Gentlemen's Club, SOAR.
22. You will Introduce and feature ""Rebel Kitchen's" "Coconut Water".
No added sugar, additives or preservatives.
It launches first in NYC, then in "Select Markets", but ask your Distributors to reach out and bring this "Coconut Water" to your area.
Do a huge "GOING COCONUTS CRAZY CELEBRATION".
Featuring Island Music, Island Decor, Island Foods, Island Contests, of course "Coconut Water". Upscale Bars, Sports Bars, Nightclubs, even Gentlemen Clubs should host, this Concept.
23. Finally,"Craft Beers" are no longer a "Casual Carry" for your bar or restaurant. Here are the facts: "Craft Beers are now served on over half of the Restaurant Beverage Menus, in America."
